Year 2 2023 - 2024

Welcome to Year 2!

We are so excited to welcome children and carers back to Plymouth Grove after the school holidays.

This year our Year 2 class teachers are Ms Deol (2D) and Mrs Malone (2M).

We are a rights respecting school. All children have the right to learn (Article 28), and we will be doing lots of amazing learning together this year. For more details, please have a look through the curriculum information on our website.

We use Seesaw for parent communication. Please speak to your child’s teacher or the main school office if you are having difficulty connecting to our Seesaw class.

Things to remember:

• PE is on Wednesdays, so please make sure your child  comes to school in their PE kit and suitable footwear.
• Book bags should be brought into school every day. 

Reading at home everyday:

• Encourage your child to read their phonics mat. 
• Listen to your child read their reading book and make sure they tick the bookmark to show they have read at home. Parents/Carers can make comments or ask questions on the back of the bookmark. 
• Your child should work through some of the activities on their reading card as well.

Homework 

Spellings and Reading comprehension homework is sent out every Friday. Maths homework is sent out every Monday.

• Spellings - Make sure your child  learns their spellings by writing the words on the sheet, ready for a test on Monday.  Also encourage them to think about their letter formation by looking at the lines on the handwriting sheet. 
• Reading comprehension Activity- Activity linked to the home reading books. 
• Maths - This is linked to the learning we have been doing in class over the past few weeks.

If your child has any difficulty with the homework you can speak to their class teacher either in person or message them on Seesaw.
